Our mission at Sadie's Sweets is to help minority groups, especially those affected by Covid-19, by donating 100% of proceeds to a variety of credible non-profit organizations.
Why Our Cause
When I was a kid, I devoted a lot of my time to volunteering at different organizations. I’ve always wanted to help others, and have wanted to create my own nonprofit for quite some time, but could never commit to a cause. A lot of the volunteering I did when I was younger took place in urban areas of New Jersey, teaching nutrition and healthy eating classes in after school programs at schools there. Partnering with Team Walker this spring, I was able to donate the funds of Sadie's Sweets to families in Jersey City who couldn't afford groceries due to the pandemic. This winter we are branching out, and as well as sending funds to Team Walker, we are also donating to three more organizations, both to fight the spread of Covid and racial injustice.
How It Works
Deliveries are distributed to customers each week, and once we have received the money from the orders, along with donations, the funds are sent directly to the organization we are donating to.
Where are we donating?
BIPOC communities are drastically affected by coronavirus as compared to white communities. Sadie's Sweets is looking to combat this by not only donating to organizations that protect Black and Indigenous families, but organizations that specifically provide resources in these communities that are struggling. Read about the disparities here and here. For these reasons, we are donating this winter to the following four organizations:
1. Team Walker (prodividng groceries to families in Jersey City)
2. Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women USA (protecting Indigenous women)
3. NAACP'S Legal Defense and Educational Fund (achieving racial justice through advocacy)
4. First Nations Covid-19 Emergency Response Fund (distributing funds to native organizations during Covid)
We also encourage you to do your own research before deciding where to donate, or donate to these organizations independently.
New schedule for the fall season
Unfortunately, I no longer have the flexibility I was granted this summer. Because of this, we are implementing a few new policies.
1. There will be a maximum of five orders every weekend. I am a high school junior, and I have a lot of commitments that prevent me from baking as much as I would like.
2. There will be three bakery items available every weekend on a rotating schedule. This allows you to choose which weekend you would like to receive your order based on what items you would like!
Thank you for your cooperation!

HOW ARE YOU MAKING A DIFFERENCE?
HOW DO WE DECIDE WHERE TO DONATE?
WHAT ARE THE PAYMENT OPTIONS?
We offer delivery for cities in New Jersey. Contactless and safe delivery is guaranteed. Orders go out every Saturday, so long as the order form is filled out the previous Saturday by 11:59 P.M.
We accept Venmo and Apple Pay for payment. We also accept credit and debit cards. More details can be found in the checkout area.
ARE THERE OPTIONS FOR THOSE WITH ALLERGIES AND DIETARY RESTRICTIONS?
HOW ELSE CAN I HELP?
The majority of our products can be altered to accommodate customers' needs. However, we cannot guarantee the environment the baked goods are produced in is 100% nut-free.
You can help by giving a donation through our donations page, or purchasing goods from us more than once so that we have a continuous supply of funds to donate. Other ways you can help are donating or signing petitions through our Black Lives Matter page, or by donating to a food bank to help families during the pandemic.
When you purchase baked goods from Sadie's Sweets, you are not only ordering delicious food but you are using your money to help to those in need, as 100% of proceeds are for charity.
WHERE DO WE DELIVER AND HOW DOES OUR DELIVERY SYSTEM WORK?
All of the organizations we donate to we either have close experience working with, or we have done a great amount of research about who they are and the change that they make. We would never use your donations and our time and resources on an organization that we did not deem worthy.
